"Soup de Jour Was Never Like This Besides the Haggis..."
Ingredients:
Beef stock base
Chicken stock base
Port wine to complete the stock base
Vegetable stock base
Grains (ground) as thickener: barley, rice and oats (partially roasted) (no corn meal)
Artichoke hearts (chopped)
Capers (chopped)
Mushroom (straw) (bits)
Herbs and spices: sage, thyme, oignons, garlic
Black pepper and salt to taste (cracked)
(No other green fruit or baby vegetables)
Make this soup de jour beside the Haggis "hash" either from scratch or store-bought to warm the jowls on a Winter day made to a fine gruel consistency rich in stock base and flavoured with a deep, rich wine flavour. Sorry there are no other vegetables in the offing here except the "crown" artichockes and mushrooms. We also suggest not adding fruit for veggies such as green papaya or corn meal - to do or spoil the gruel.
Besides the Haggis serve up this soup with chipped beef and kidney pie (diced steak and kidneys with gravy) with crusty bread for yet another hearty meal.
